Entries close on the 30th April 2024 so we can select, prepare & reserve enough sheep for you.

NSA South East Region Next Generation Shepherds Competition

NSA South East Region Next Generation Shepherds Competition will be held at the Southern Shears UK shearing competition on Sunday 12th May at Copford Farm, Dern Lane, Waldron, East Sussex. TN21 0PN.
This free to enter competition gives keen young shepherds from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Surrey, Sussex and the Isle of Wight a chance to compete for cash prizes with the two highest scoring entrants going forward to the National Final at the Sheep Event at Malvern on 30th July.
Whilst the competition aims to test the Young Shepherds practical and theoretical knowledge, we also want it to be seen as a worthwhile learning experience.
There are seven elements to the competition, with each entrant required to complete five.
However late entries will be accepted “on the day”. Please arrive by 8am to get registered.

- Sheep Health Questionnaire (obligatory element)
- Lamb Selection
- Electric Fencing
- Sheep Shearing (competitors must have a British Wool blue seal to take part in this element)
- Ram MOT/ Ewe body condition score
- Sheep equipment identification and useage
- ATV Handling

YFC Shearing Competition.
We are delighted to host the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Club South East Area Eliminating Shearing Competition with the Final at the Great Yorkshire Show.
Open to two full registered members per County in the South East Area. The competitor must be 16 years and over and 28 years of age or under on 1 September 2023 with a minimum qualification of a British Wool Blue Seal. Should a member under the age of 16 be awarded the Blue Seal they will be able to compete at the discretion of NFYFC and British Wool. See NFYFC website for full set of rules.
